Julep Maven Box Number Two (December 2011)

Okay, I've been putting off a lot of things for the past few months so I'm trying to catch up.  I got my December Julep Maven Box at the beginning of December but didn't have any time to write a blog on what I received so here it is.

I received two nail varnishes Helena(megenta color) and the clear top coat.  To me Helena wasn't exactly a color that I would put on my nails because it's too bright of a color.  However I still tried it out on one of my finger nails just to see how it looked.  It wasn't exactly a pretty sight so I ended up removing it.  I haven't yet tried it on my toe nails but when I get around to it I'll definately update you guys.

I also received the Julep Nail Appliques and a red glitter pot for my nails.  I too have not tried these two out so I'll definitely try these out as soon as I possibly can.  I will be receiving my January Julep Maven box soon so I'll be doing reviews on all of these soon.  Stay tuned for a more in depth review and more future blogs!

Emilie & Sienna Review + Glycolic Hand Scrub Review

I know this review is long past due but I wanted to put it up anyways for those who love nails.  I received all three of these products in my Julep Maven box back in November.  If you didn't read my first post on Julep I'll leave a link HERE. It's an amazing site with amazing products so check it out if you love nails as much as I do.

On to the review! I received two nail varnishes Emilie(green) and Sienna(gold) back in November.  Emilie seemed to be a color that I would definitely put on my nails but not so much Sienna.  I never really was a fan of gold nails.  However I tried them both out anyways just to see how they looked.  I ended up liking Sienna just as much as I liked Emilie.  The colors look exactly the same on your nails as they do in the bottle which is pretty nice. The nail varnish itself is a little bit on the runnier side but they are still very opaque once applied.  I did apply two coats when I put them on just in case. I'm one of those people who once my nails start chipping I remove the nail polish. I first tested one of each color on my middle and pointy toe nails just to see how long they would last.  Then I did my actual hands.  It took a little over a week for the nail varnishes to start chipping. As for my toe nails the color is still there even after a month or so.  The only missing nail color is where my nails have grown in and the parts that I've clipped off since then.  All in all I really like these nail varnishes.

The Glycolic Hand Scrub is just as amazing as the nail varnishes themselves. Every time I use the glycolic hand scrub I feel the difference in my skin.  My hands feel so much softer and look much more healthy. On the days that I don't use it my hands feel dry, they look duller, and don't feel as soft. I've really fallen in love with this product.  Once mine diminishes I'll probably end up getting a whole new one from Julep.

*Sorry I didn't take a separate photo of the Glycolic Hand Scrub. I'll make sure to do that as soon as I can.*

X OUT

"The unique, one-step X Out™ Wash-In Treatment is formulated to help kill the bacteria that causes breakouts, help banish existing pimples and help leave the skin feeling smooth and looking healthy.

X Out™ works to lift away the dirt and grime that can clog pores.  The Wash-In Treatment also leaves behind powerful medicine to help keep pores clean.  Learn more and purchase at XOut.com.  X Out is sold as a 30-day supply and comes with a bonus Shine Control product to help you fight oil all day for $19.95."

I received the X Out Wash-In Treatment in my INFLUENSTER Holiday Voxbox as a bonus product at the beginning of the month.  I didn't exactly know what to expect from this product but I had high hopes for it even though I don't really have breakouts.  I tried it a few nights after receiving my Voxbox when a big fat pimple popped up on my cheek and so I decided to test the product out.  My face felt rather dried out after I tried out the X-Out wash-in treatment.  I'm not sure if it was because of my combination skin or what not but I couldn't even raise my eyebrows because my forehead and cheeks were so dry.  I ended up using a moisturizer but I did notice that the following morning my pimple that made an appearance on my cheek had reduced greatly in size.  You almost couldn't even see it anymore.  I did enjoy this product and I intend to introduce the X Out Wash-In Treatment to my brothers because they have rather oily skin so this might work out quite well for them.

TIPS: Definitely use a moisturizer afterwards.

VERDICT: It does the job of getting rid of pimples but if you have dry skin or combination skin you might need a moisturizer afterwards and you may not be able to use it that often.  Those with oily skin this product may show you some rather good results if you use enough or when you need it.

*SORRY I do not have a photo at this time being that I left it at mothers house when I went there for Christmas. I will have a photo up as soon as I get it. Thank You!*

I received the Montagnue Jeunesse face mask in Cucumber Peel Off from INFLUENSTER's Holiday VoxBox. I actually don't have that much experience in face masks so when I got this I was quite excited like many of my other products I received in my VoxBox.  When I first went to try this product out I had no idea what to expect from it.  My first impressions of it when I touched it was that it had a gel-like consistency and it had a greenish tint to it which kind of scared me. LOL. I still ended up putting it on my face and after about a five minute time span I noticed the drying of the product.  After fifteen or so minutes I felt that the face mask had completely dried because my face was really tight.  I ended up peeling it off and it felt like all the dirt and oils that were previously on my face had peeled away with the face mask.  This was the first time my face felt so clean and soft for the first time in a long time.  I was so amazed on how great my face felt that I really want to get my hands on a few more.

TIPS: Be generous with the amount of the product you put on your face.  It's not gonna hurt to put on the whole packet.

VERDICT: I LOVE IT! I'm really interested in this product now that I've tried it so I actually want to try out all the ones that they offer.

imPress Press On Manicure

"Introducing imPress, the revolutionary way to apply nail polish! Featuring advanced technology, you will get a salon-perfect manicure in seconds - simply peel off, press on, and you're done(no drying time!) imPress comes in 36 colors and patterns, including trendy brights, fun prints, classic darks and animal prints."

I received the imPress Press On Manicure by Broadway Nails in my INFLUENSTER Holiday Voxbox and at first I was excited about trying this.  I tend to do my nails at least once a week or once every two weeks or so I was excited about receiving something nail related. The colored imPress Press On Manicures retail for $5.99 while patterned ones retail for $7.99 and can be located at your local CVS, Wal-Mart, Rite Aide, KMart, Walgreens, Duane Reade and many more.

The color that I received was Tweetheart which is just a nice bold, true red color.  I am not a big fan of red on my nails but I still gave it a try.  It was rather easy to apply being that all I did wass peel the clear piece off the glue on the nails and just stick it on to your finger nails. The application went smooth however after a few minutes I started doing some chores around the house and I noticed that the nail was actually peeling off.  I looked under my nails and I could see a huge gap between my real nails and the fake nail that I had just applied.  I ended up peeling a few of them off so I could redo them and they still ended up peeling off before the end of the day.  I was really upset about this product because I really wanted to like it.  I love easy application but this product just didn't work out for me.  I think this is mostly because my actual nails are kind of flat so this product might work out well for you if you have nice rounded nails.

VERDICT: I wouldn't buy this but it may work well for those with rounded nails and not so much for those with flat nails.

NYC NEW YORK COLOR

Hey everyone I have a review on the New York Color Liquid Lip Shine in Nude York City that I got at the beginning of this month in my INFLUENSTER Holiday Voxbox!  If you don't know what Influenster is I have it linked above.  I'm not going to get too much into explaining it because I really suck at explaining so I'm just going to jump right in to my review.

On the card that came along with the Voxbox it says "Straight from the city that never sleeps, New York Color's Liquid Lipshine is uptown style at a down-to-earth price. With pure pigments that create a 3-D gloss effect and vitamin E that provides shine and moisture, this product is perfect to keep lips looking and feeling fabulous this season. Comes in 10 shades from neutral  nude, to berries & fuchsias."

This was the first product I jumped at to try because I love anything beauty related as you may know already.  Honestly I didn't expect much from it because the retail price on it is about $2.50 a color.  However, they feel and look more expensive than a mere $2.50.  They feel absolutely amazing on the lips! The color I received was Nude York City and it was a perfect nude color with flecks of silver in it. The silver flecks are quite nice because your lips look plumper which is definitely a thumbs up for me. It isn't sticky at all and the pigmentation a pretty decent. The one thing I love most about this product is that it keeps my lips moisturized all day long even after it has worn away.

TIP: Keep this product with you if you want your lips to be this color all day for it is only a Liquid Lip Shin.

THE VERDICT: I love this product and I actually planning on getting a few more at my local drug store.  Obviously I'm only going to get nude colors. =)
