Hautelook Haul: ILLAMASQUA

Hey guys! Sorry it took a while for me to come back. I caught the flu and haven't been feeling good. I've only been feeling decent enough to go to school and take my mid-terms. Anyways...lets get to it!

Obviously everyone's here to see a haul! I purchased from Hautelook on the 22nd of last month which was Setember and was kind of bummed because I didn't get everything I wanted. I only missed out on one item that I wanted but other than that I was pretty lucky. You have to remember that on Hautelook everything is limited and so is the time of the events. I got on right when the event started and I still didn't get all the items I wanted so if you want something you have to be quick about it. Just a fair warning for those who've never shopped with them.

As you can tell from the title of the post this is a Illamasqua haul. Normally, Illamasque is a pretty high end brand. Not something I would normally purchase from. However, thanks to Hautelook they made this super high end brand a decent price to where I can justify purchasing.
The first item I put in my cart is the Complement palette. It has three shadows and one liquid metal. I honestly have no idea what the liquid metal is used for but I'll figure it out.
~>The only liquid metal in this palette is the brown shade called Focus. It does not appear to have any glitter chunks.
~>Slink is a champagne shade.
~>Forgiveness is the medium matte violet shade.
~>Queen of the night is the deeper satin purple shade.
Retail price is around $38 dollars for this palette alone. Through Hautlook I paid only $25.
I purchased Delirium because I couldn't find Heroin. Turns out Heroin was on Hautelook I was just in too much of a hurry that I didn't see it until after I already made my purchase. Originally this is about $20. I paid only $14. I was hoping that it would be similar to Heroin but its a little bit more mauve-y and obviously its a cream. I was planning to try using this as a contour but as of right now...I think I may only be able to use it as a blush and a base for my eye makeup.
I wanted to try out a powder blush so I picked Thrust. Its a bright purple-pink shade. Very reminiscent of that radiant orchid shade from a few years ago that was very popular.
Since I purchased a powder blush I decided to pick up a cream blush. Laid is a bright mid-toned pink with kind of a purple base. I don't know how to describe it, it's pink but there's definite hint of purple. Obviously, I feel like my camera isn't catching this blushes true color.
On the website these two looked completely different. But in hand they look very similar. Even my camera seriously can't show how similar/different they are. They are both originally around $24 and I paid only $12 for the creme blush and $14 for the powder blush.
The last makeup item I purchased is this Gleam Highlighter/Illuminateur in the shade Aurora. It looks very similar to Becca's Shimmer Skin Perfector-Spotlight in Opal. It's not as warm. It's on the cooler side with like a gray base. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it as of right now but I'm kind of stuck it. The highlighter is normally $28 but I only paid $14.
I also purchased this one lonely brush. It is the Blush Up Brush which is originally $40. I paid only $20! It's nice and dense but I don't think I'd use it for a blush. I think I'd rather use it for contour because it's so dense.
The last item I purchased to get my total over $100 to get free shipping, I grabbed this polish. This is Jo'mina. Its a pretty paler lilac shade. Most of the time I can't do shades like these but I wanted to try it out anyways. If it doesn't work out...at least I purchased it on sale and not full price. This polish is originally $18 and I paid $7.50. So yes, I do justify purchasing this polish because it's right around drugstore polish prices.

In total my purchase price was at $106.50. Because I spent over $100 I got free shipping and normally I don't pay taxes because we don't have a Nordstrom Rack in my state. If you would like to check out Hautlook click HERE FOR AN AFFLILIATE link and HERE if you don't want to use my affiliate link.

Ipsy June 2013 - On The Wild Side

I received my June 2013 Ipsy bag yesterday but I didn't have the chance to post as I was out fishing and swimming with my family so here it is a day late. I've been on the fence about Ipsy lately so I think if the next few bags aren't as good then I may just unsubscribe. But anyways on to the bag.

THE PINK BUBBLE MAILER

The cutest bag ever! The theme for this months bag was On The Wild Side.
First item in the bag was a full size NYX Cream Blush. The color I received is in the color Rose Petal number CB01. It is a mauve pinky/rose color with the slightest orange under tone. I already have many colors that look like this so my sister-in-law and I will be swapping as she received the color Orange in her bag. It is a color that I do not own so I was excited she was willing to trade and I can not wait to get my hands on it and try the color out!
Item number two that I found in my bag was the J.Cat Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue. These are in the number EL600. On the packaging it states that the lashes are 100% human hair and the glue that is included are latex free. Thumbs up to that because I find any glue with latex it doesn't ever hold my false lashes that long.
Next up is the J.Cat Sparkling Creme Palette in the color SCP106 Volta. I don't wear dark shadows that much so my sister-in-law and I have decided to swap palettes. She likes to wear dark shadows while I like to wear neutral shades so it was great we got the two different color palettes.
Last two items are the Starlooks lip liner in the color K337 Tipsy. This was the most common color for the lip liners but I'm glad I received this one as it is a neutral pinky every day color. Pictured below the lip liner is the Chella Ivor Lace Highlighter.  Honestly I'm not really excited about this as I can just use a shadow to take the place of this pencil. Both of these pencils do not twist up so they will need to be sharpened for those of you who are curious about them.

That is all I received in this month Ipsy bag. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will be back with a tutorial really soon. See you next time!

Benefit Watt's Up! VS Wet N Wild Walking On Eggshells

I know that highlighting is something that not everyone does on a regular basis. However, I know that purchasing a decent highlighter can be a little expensive so that is why I found a nice little dupe for the infamous Watt's Up by Benefit. I received this as a birthday gift from Sephora last month and I've been loving it and even considered repurchasing it. When I was applying this it kind of reminded me of the eyelid color from the Wet N Wild Walking on Eggshells 3 pan palette. Thus I decided to swatch them to see how similar they were and they are pretty similar. I'm not saying for you to go out and buy this palette but I just wanted to share my thoughts on this. Not everyone has the same skin tone so this may or may not work for you but it should apply the same for the majority of skin colors.

Obviously from the photo of the swatches you can tell they are pretty similar. The top swatch is the Watt's Up! by Benefit and the bottom swatch is the eyelid color from the Wet N Wild palette. I did have to build up the Wet N Wild color just a little bit but none the less it's a pretty decent dupe. Like I said I am only giving my opinion and if you like the Benefit Watt's Up highlighter definitely check out the Wet N Wild palette if your searching for a more affordable highlighter that has the same color of the Benefit Watt's Up, plus two other eye colors.

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick post and I'll be seeing you guys later!
