Hautelook Haul: ILLAMASQUA

Hey guys! Sorry it took a while for me to come back. I caught the flu and haven't been feeling good. I've only been feeling decent enough to go to school and take my mid-terms. Anyways...lets get to it!

Obviously everyone's here to see a haul! I purchased from Hautelook on the 22nd of last month which was Setember and was kind of bummed because I didn't get everything I wanted. I only missed out on one item that I wanted but other than that I was pretty lucky. You have to remember that on Hautelook everything is limited and so is the time of the events. I got on right when the event started and I still didn't get all the items I wanted so if you want something you have to be quick about it. Just a fair warning for those who've never shopped with them.

As you can tell from the title of the post this is a Illamasqua haul. Normally, Illamasque is a pretty high end brand. Not something I would normally purchase from. However, thanks to Hautelook they made this super high end brand a decent price to where I can justify purchasing.

The first item I put in my cart is the Complement palette. It has three shadows and one liquid metal. I honestly have no idea what the liquid metal is used for but I'll figure it out.
~>The only liquid metal in this palette is the brown shade called Focus. It does not appear to have any glitter chunks.
~>Slink is a champagne shade.
~>Forgiveness is the medium matte violet shade.
~>Queen of the night is the deeper satin purple shade.
Retail price is around $38 dollars for this palette alone. Through Hautlook I paid only $25.

I purchased Delirium because I couldn't find Heroin. Turns out Heroin was on Hautelook I was just in too much of a hurry that I didn't see it until after I already made my purchase. Originally this is about $20. I paid only $14. I was hoping that it would be similar to Heroin but its a little bit more mauve-y and obviously its a cream. I was planning to try using this as a contour but as of right now...I think I may only be able to use it as a blush and a base for my eye makeup.

I wanted to try out a powder blush so I picked Thrust. Its a bright purple-pink shade. Very reminiscent of that radiant orchid shade from a few years ago that was very popular.

Since I purchased a powder blush I decided to pick up a cream blush. Laid is a bright mid-toned pink with kind of a purple base. I don't know how to describe it, it's pink but there's definite hint of purple. Obviously, I feel like my camera isn't catching this blushes true color.

On the website these two looked completely different. But in hand they look very similar. Even my camera seriously can't show how similar/different they are. They are both originally around $24 and I paid only $12 for the creme blush and $14 for the powder blush.

The last makeup item I purchased is this Gleam Highlighter/Illuminateur in the shade Aurora. It looks very similar to Becca's Shimmer Skin Perfector-Spotlight in Opal. It's not as warm. It's on the cooler side with like a gray base. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it as of right now but I'm kind of stuck it. The highlighter is normally $28 but I only paid $14.

I also purchased this one lonely brush. It is the Blush Up Brush which is originally $40. I paid only $20! It's nice and dense but I don't think I'd use it for a blush. I think I'd rather use it for contour because it's so dense.

The last item I purchased to get my total over $100 to get free shipping, I grabbed this polish. This is Jo'mina. Its a pretty paler lilac shade. Most of the time I can't do shades like these but I wanted to try it out anyways. If it doesn't work out...at least I purchased it on sale and not full price. This polish is originally $18 and I paid $7.50. So yes, I do justify purchasing this polish because it's right around drugstore polish prices.

Julep December 2013

This months Julep was so great and had so many beautiful colors but I only picked up a few shades that I knew I didn't already have in my collection. My monthly box is usually the "It Girl" but I really wanted to try the eyeshadow palette that Julep offered this month so I upgraded to the "Classic With A Twist" box and "added on" a few polishes.

This months box was funny because I received my ship confirmation on Sunday and received my box on Monday.

Classic With A Twist had two polishes and the eyeshadow palette. The box also came with twist ties but my son lost them so I didn't even take a photo. The three polishes on the left are my add on polishes.

The eyeshadow palette I think is actually really nice and pretty pigmented. The texture is pretty smooth too, so I can not wait to try it out. The metallic burgundy shade is Jullian and the silvery green shade is Mia.

 

 

Two out of three shades were from the "It Girl" box. Ceila is the middle polish. Its a metallic mermaid color which is gorgeous! Evelyn is a vampy magenta purple which I think is great for fall. The blue shade came from the "Boho Glam" box but it's called Misti.

Review: Wet N Wild LE Pop Art Craze To Muse and Carouse

I am here today with a review of the Wet N Wild Limited Edition Pop Art Craze 3 pan palette in To Muse and Carouse. This collection was just recently released I think in July of this year. I found mine at my local Walgreens for $2.99 per palette. I've heard some ladies getting them for more or less depending on where they live and if their local stores had sales.

Color Selection:

 

Browbone: matte peachy salmon

Crease: matte brown

Eyelid: matte bright electric baby blue

Swatches:

 TOP: Flash

BOTTOM: No Flash

The peachy salmon brow bone shade is a nice transition color for my skin tone. At the same time it has enough peachyness in it to bring a little bit of warmth to your eyes. This shade was hard to build up but worked well as a blending shade along with being a transition color. The crease shade I think is the easiest to work with. It blended well and at the same time you could build up the color intensity but it did have a bit of fall out. As for the eyelid color I found this color to be the most pigmented but also the most chalky. All three of these shades were chalky and had a bit of fall out but none the less an amazing purchase for only $2.99.

For this look I first placed the browbone shade as a transition color. I then took the crease color and placed it along my crease. I built up the intensity of the color on the outer corner of my eyes and took it under my bottom lashes. I built up the eyelid color on top of a Maybelline color tattoo to make it pop and that was how I achieved this look.

REVIEW: E.L.F. 24K 32 Piece Eyeshadow Palette

I finally had time today to put up my review and swatches of the ELF 24K 32 piece eyeshadow palette. Which, I know I've been promising to do more reviews so I hope you can forgive me and keep following me on my makeup journey. It's been hard trying to find time to do swatches, taking photos, and I'm not even going to mention filming videos because it's been really hectic. Anyways, I'm going to stop rambling so that we can get straight in to this amazing palette.

A LITTLE HISTORY...
This palette was a limited edition palette launched a year or so ago for Christmas from ELF's 24K line. As you can obviously guess there are 32 eyeshadows. All ELF palettes are hit or misses for people but personally I think this is a HIT. There are a few shadows here and there that aren't as amazing as you would want them to be but for the price it's no biggie.

I purchased this about a year or so ago but never got around to using it because I wasn't really into using colors in my everyday makeup routine. Naturally I steered clear of this palette. I've finally broken out of my shell and I find myself experimenting with colors everyday so I thought I would give my two cents on the palette. Even though this palette is no longer available I thought it something worth sharing.

As you can see there is a nice selection of colors. Blues, blacks, greens, purples, browns, and even a gorgeous coral.

SWATCHES...

First Row

 

The first row has a lot of lighter colors. I love to use the first color as a highlight shade but it is rather chalky so you have to be careful with it. The gold shade(3rd swatch from the right) is a beautiful all over the lid color for summer if you're going for that golden goddess kind of look. The pink shade(4th from the left) is a pretty pink color that reminds me of sin from Urban Decay. I'm not saying its exactly the same I'm just saying it reminds of Sin.

This is the look I created using the champagne color(2nd from left). I used this color on top of a Maybelline Color Tatto in order for the color to pop. By itself it wasn't really opaque enough to my liking but it really is just personal preference.

Row Number 2

My favorite color out of this row is definitely the coral color(2nd from left). My least favorite out of these is definitely the sparkly black. when swatched there is little to no pigment. Just mainly glitter with a lot of fall out. The two least favorite of mine are the two middle colors. The pink and lilac shade are very misleading in the pan. In the pan the pink shade looks like a lilac and the lilac shade in the pan looks darker and more pigmented. These two colors were very depressing for me as I really liked the way they looked in the pan. But like I said the shadows are hit or misses.

This is the look I did with the coral shade. As you can see it is rather pigmented and blends beautifully.

3rd Row

I love the turquoise and the icy blue shades in this row. Sadly the turquoise shade almost completely blends away to nothing which is very sad. Especially when it swatches so true to color. However, that might have been because I used the shadow under my eyes instead of packing the color on. I might try using this color a little bit more on the eyes instead of smudging out the color under my eyes to see how much better it does.

Row Number 4

This row I love the 4th,5th, 6th, and 7th swatches. The 4th swatch is a gorgeous deeper bronze/rose gold shade. Swatch number 5 is a perfect transition color to bring some warmth into your eyes. The 6th swatch is a really pretty mossy green and the 7th is just a nice pop of color.

As a whole I really like this palette and I very much did enjoy it. There were some hit or miss shadows but that's fine by me as it is ELF so I don't expect Urban Decay kind of quality. With only a couple of duds I think this palette is an awesome find and something worth trying if you can ever find it ever again.

Coral Smokey Eyes

Hey guys! I did my makeup this past weekend but didn't get around to posting. I had a wedding to go to and it was memorial day weekend which I was spending with my family. I hope you guys will understand and forgive my late posting. I hope you guys enjoy it.

This is the look I ended up coming up with. It's just a really simple coral wash all over the lid, a red toned brown as a transition color, and a dark grey almost black color in the outer corner. I put a golden bronze color under my inner corner and smudged the same grey/black color on the outer corners under my eye.

This is the ELF 24K 32 piece eyeshadow palette that I used. I haven't used this since I purchased it other than swatch it but I'm happy I finally decided to use it. The quality of this palette is a lot better than the normal big palettes ELF sells. This was a limited edition palette so you probably won't be able to purchased this anymore. I will be posting a full review with swatches up soon so stay tuned.

Urban Decay Haul Feb. 2013

I finally got my Urban Decay order in today! I've been waiting for this all week so I was super happy it came in and I can finally start dipping into my new items. Quick Note: I will be posting my plndr haul as soon as I receive my last order so stay tuned for that. NOW...ON TO THE HAUL!!!!

Obviously you always get a sample of the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Which I'm not exactly a big fan of but it does the job. Under the sample is just my invoice/return label.

As you can see straight of the bat that the packaging is super duper cute with the purple tissue and in silver letters it says "beauty with an edge" all over. I will probably be keeping the tissue to use for something else though because I like to reuse packaging.

AND THE REVEAL

I just purchased a few of the ON SALE items from the Urban Decay website minus the super saturated high gloss lip color. I WILL NOT HAVE SWATCHES UP AS THIS IS JUST A HAUL. 

The super saturated high gloss lip color in LOVECHILD is a nice barbie pink color. I don't know how I feel about this because I did try it and it seems kind of sheer. I don't know but I'm pretty sure it's just because my lips are really pigmented so the color seems sheer. The good thing is that it is buildable and doesn't look caked on after building it up. It doesn't settle into the wrinkles of your lips either so I think this item is actually really nice.

I picked up the Ammo palette by Urban Decay too. I originally wanted to pick up just the eyeshadow color in mildew and since mildew was already in this palette I picked up the palette and left the single eyeshadow color. The Ammo palette includes the eyeshadows in smog, mildew, oil slick, last call, chopper, maui wowie, shattered, polyester bride, grifter, and sin. This palette is very nice in my mind that it has neutral colors and a few pops of color.

 I also picked up the Mariposa palette just so I could have it. I've been eyeing this palette ever since I originally saw it a few months back so I finally purchased it. Like the Ammo palette it has a nice array of colors. After receiving the palettes I actually like the Mariposa palette a little bit more just because it has eyeshadow for both a neutral eye look and dramatic smokey eye with a few pops of color. The eyeshadows included in this palette are rockstar, gunmetal, skimp, infamous, wreckage, haight, money, mushroom, spotlight, and limelight.
