REVIEW: Maybelline Expert Wear in Designer Chocolates

Today's blog post is on the infamous quad in Designer Chocolates by Maybelline. This quad was featured on beautybroadcast.net or also known as EmilyNoel83 on youtube.com. Ever since seeing Emily use this quad I was intrigued and had to get my hands on it. The quad retails for $4.95 on walmart.com but I purchased mine at a Dollar General out in the middle no where so it was slightly higher, about $5.25 or so.

The quad obviously has four shadows, numbered 1 through 4. Shade number 1 is the base shade which is the lightest. Shade 2 is the lid color in the top right corner. Under that is the crease color, shade number 3 and on the very bottom is shade number 4.

**for some reason my camera just would not focus...sorry for the blurry photo**

As you can tell from the swatches the colors have a decent amount of payoff. Personally, I think this is a great travel friendly item. Something you can take with you and if it breaks it's a no biggie.

**NOTE: I know my eye brows are getting bushy. I'm growing them out so that I can change the shape.**
LOOK #1:

This is the look I created using the quad the first time I used it. It came out pretty nice if I do say so myself. Something thats neutral and very wearable for every day.

GET THE LOOK:
1. Prime lids.
2. Apply liner shade to outer v and blen inwards.
3. Take the crease shade and blend out the harsh edges of the liner shade.
4. Apply base shade all over the lids and into the inner corners.
5. Take lid shade and use as the transition shade from the crease shade into the highlight.
6. Take base shade again and apply on browbone to highlight.
7. Apply mascara, liner, false lashes(optional) and you are done!

LOOK #2:

This is the second look I created. It's probably going to be more for color lovers but because I used the brown shades on the outside it is a little bit more wearable for every day also.

GET THE LOOK:
1. Prime lids.
2. Apply crease shade 3/4 of eye.
3. Take liner shade into outer v and blend inward.
4. Take the lid shade and blend out the liner color that you just put down.
5. Hightlight inner corners and brow bone with base shade.
6. Apply mascara, liner, and false lashes(optional) and you are done!

As a whole I really enjoyed this palette. For the price that you pay for this quad it is competely worth it. I'm actually debateing about searching for another Maybelline quad in Emerald which I found earlier seaching for the price of this quad on Walmart. Until then see you guys later!

September Ipsy 2013 - Classic Beauty

I received my Ipsy bag for September today. I was super eager to receive my bag because I knew what I was getting before I even  got my bag. Even knowing all that it didn't stop the thrill or the suspense when I was opening my bag.

Ipsy's infamous pink bubble mailer!

Inside was a card sample of Em Cosmetics.

Contents of my September bag...**screams**
Item number one is the Starlooks eyepencil in Obsidian.
Retails: $12
Second is the It's So Big Volumizing Mascara mini. I'm guessing it's in the color black?
Retails: $19 for full size
Item number three is the Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple.
Retails: $19
My fourth item is the NYX single shadow in Morocco.
Retails: $4.50
And...Item number five is a mini butterLondon polish in La Moss.
Retails: $18 for a full size

Over all I think Ipsy did pretty decent this month. I know I didn't post last months bag because it came so late and I probably will not post it just because I feel like everyone has already seen last months bag. Like I was saying before I got off subject this months bag retails for a lot more $10 so I would highly suggest jumping on to the Ipsy band wagon if you haven't already.

The only odd thing that happend but I'm not complaining about is that I specifically said I don't like nail polish on my profile. But I guess that might have been why I received the polish. Ipsy tries to get you to try new things you haven't already tried in shades you probably wouldn't ever look at. That is why I think people would enjoy Ipsy. They are there to let you explore makeup without paying the expensive price tags. They're not there to give you makeup brands and colors that you already own. Ipsy for you to explore.

REVIEW: CoverGirl Lip Perfections

I am finally doing my post on the CoverGirl Lip Perfections. If you watch my videos then you know these were in my haul video that I promised to review. The three shades I have and will be reviewing today are number 200 sultry, 365 enchantress, and 305 hot.

My initial reaction to these lipsticks was that I really liked enchantress. Sultry I thought was too brown and I probably wouldn't be able to get much use out of it. As for hot I just wanted to try out a red lipsticks since I have never owned a red lipstick.

SWATCHES:
L to R: Sultry, Enchantress, Hot
Top to Bottom: Hot, Enchantress, Sultry

After swatching and using the lipsticks for well over a month my opinions changed and my preference is actually the opposite of my initial thoughts. I actually really like Sultry, not very fond of Enchantress, and I'm pretty satisfied with Hot being my first choice for venturing out into red lipsticks.

LIP SWATCHES:
This is a before photo with just some lip balm and zero lipstick. As you can see my lips are pretty pigmented by themselves.
In this photo I have on Sultry. It is a gorgeous your lips but better kind of color. In the tube the lipsticks rather brown and looks almost unwearable on my skin tone. However, when applied the lipstick is actually pinker in color and has a nice sheen.
Swatched here is the shade Enchantress. I thought I was going to like this shade just because it was pink. I ended up not being a fan as it has a blue opalescent sheen to it. I think that if this shade did not have that duo chrome affect to it I think I would of really enjoyed this shade.
The last shade is in Hot. As you can see its a blue toned matte red shade. In the photo it looks like it has a sheen to it but it really is matte. Oddly this lipstick was the only one out of three that I have that feels kind of dry and stains my lips.
Here is a before and after comparison of how the lipstick stained my lips.

The thing I like most about these lipsticks is that they have this unique smell to them. As a whole I really enjoyed these lipsticks and I actually wouldn't mind picking up more colors to test.

**FUN FACTS**
1. We are celebrating my mom's 61st birthday today.
2. If you look closely you will see my kids are in the background of most of todays photos.

September Julep

I'm back with a Julep September box haul for you guys today! I actually really liked this months box from Julep. I was actually thinking about upgrading my box and just get the whole collection for this month but I decided not to and just "add on" the polish that I wanted. However, I was really interested in the cleansing oil but passed. Hopefully this month they will have it as an "add on" product so I can just get it with my reward points.

If you don't already know what Julep is...its a monthly subscription service for nail polishes for $19.99 a month. If you would like to sign up I will post a link below to their website. Enough of my yapping on to the polishes.

I like how they packaged this months box. Gold tissue paper with the IT GIRL sticker. Gorgeous!

This was the item underneath the little paper that you get every month.

This polish was my "add on" polish for $4.99. I think this polish is the one item I was most excited for.

This months packaging like is said was super cute and different. Or maybe it's just because I haven't picked my monthly box for a few months now. LOL. But like I said it's still cute.

The colors for this months IT GIRL box(left to right) Candice, Catrina, and Josephine. I can't wait to do my nails!

MIA???

Hey guys! I know I have been MIA for a few weeks now but it really was unavoidable as my daughter got sick. Then she got me sick and then both of us got my son sick and then he ended up getting me sick again. It's just been a crazy run around sickness throwing me out of my normal loop but I promise I'll be posting up reviews and maybe even a haul video soon. Thanks for being so patient!
